Arianna Huffington

Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington resides in the United States and is a writer from Greece, a syndicated columnist and a businesswoman. She is the co-founder and CEO of Thrive Global, as well as the author of fifteen books. Arianna Huffington is an author and philanthropist as well as a television host and owner of the independently free online news publication The Huffington Post. Originally from Greece she moved to England at the age of 16 and graduated from Cambridge University with an MA in Economics. The first non-English student to graduate, she was elected President of The Cambridge Union' at age 21. After graduation she made her mark as a conservative syndicated columnist and with the launch of The Huffington Post' few years later, she launched a voice-based website that provided critical views about the current political climate. It was possible for her to recruit numerous prominent contributors to post their thoughts regarding politics and culture. Arianna became famous in 2003 when she ran as an independent candidate in the California recall elections to replace Governor Davis. Apart from this she also directed an Detroit initiative to encourage the use of fuel-efficient cars. Forbes identified her as the most influential woman in media in the year 2009. She ranked 12th on the ranking. The Guardian added her to the list of 100 most influential media in 2009. AOL Inc. appointed her President of their media group in 2011 following the purchased The Huffington Post. The Huffington Post also included other AOL brands like Engadget, AOLmusic Style list as well as Patch Media. Elli has two siblings, Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, and Elli and Konstantinos Stasinopoulos, who both are management consultants and journalists. While she enjoyed a strong friendship with both of her parents but it was their connection that shaped her. As a child she displayed leadership qualities that she's still known for. In her 16th year, she travelled to England to study and enrolled at Girton College Cambridge. She was a member of the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college, where she was the third female to be elected president. In 1972, she earned a master's degree in Economics. After her graduation she worked as a critic for a newspaper column and an anchor on TV. She also appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started creating books with his editing assistance.
